Tarragon Lime Green Tea

Posted by Sheri on Thursday, August 16th, 2012

I made a giant batch (and a half) of this refreshing, not-too-sweet, kind of puckery green tea for Cheryl‘s book signing at Leigh’s Favorite Books (my local independent bookstore!).

I thought I made way too much tea, but I was wrong – every drop was consumed. It’s really unique. And it’s very refreshing, especially on a warm day. We had little cups of the tea to give out, and a number of people asked for seconds. I think it’s the tarragon that got them – it’s unexpected but so nice with the lime. Even the kids on the street were slurping it up.

It’s not much more difficult than making a big pot of tea – I used organic jasmine green teabags. Those steep with the tarragon, lime juice, honey and the spent limes for just 10 minutes, and it’s done.

Tracy has the recipe posted at Shutterbean. I’m in total agreement with her urge to add some gin to the tea for a grown-up version of the drink.

Sheri, I continue to thank my lucky stars that you lent me your time, energy, mad kitchen skillz, and company on Saturday. Although this simple tea recipe may have come from me originally, when I tasted it, it had your imprint on it as well.

My gratitude to you for sharing this Ripe love with your readers.
