Sawdust Pie

Posted by Sheri on Sunday, August 12th, 2012

This is another one of those recipes I probably wouldn’t have made if it weren’t for Baked Sunday Mornings.

It’s not that the pie sounds bad. The filling is kind of like a pecan pie – sugary, with coconut, pecans and graham cracker crumbs (that’s the sawdust). It’s all held together with egg whites.

The crust is just a classic pie crust – the recipe from this book is one of my favorites, and can be made in a matter of minutes.

I made the pie and brought it to our annual neighborhood gathering for National Night out. It was a big hit – I was asked for the recipe and several people said how much they liked it.

To get the recipe and see the other entries from this week’s Baked Sunday Mornings head on over to Baked Sunday Mornings.

Isn’t it great when you get asked for a recipe? I like that you added the banana, a step I decided to omit.

I’ll bet it was great with whipped cream! It looks like you’re the only one who added bananas. I took some to work & people loved it, too.
