Tuscaloosa Tollhouse Pie

Posted by Sheri on Monday, August 29th, 2011

I don’t know why I’ve waited so long to make this pie. Probably because pie’s not really my thing. But I had an extra ball of pie dough after I made the honey pie (that type of pie is definitely my thing). I loved this a lot more than Larry did. He tends to like fruit pies (apple) and sweets with warm spices.

I can’t resist chocolate chip cookies, and this pie is exactly like a giant chocolate chip cookie. It’s got a chewy middle and the top is a little crackly. I usually don’t put nuts in my chocolate chip cookies, but I don’t mind them – and I like them in this pie. I had to take all of it to work so I wouldn’t eat it all. Use a good quality chocolate if you can – Scharffen Berger chocolate chunks work particularly well. The recipe can be found here.

Pie is usually not my thing either. But if it’s cookie pie…with Scharffen Berger…well then. This is my kind of pie.
